Project's goal

To create standardised and cheap solution for monitoring of Škoda Auto parking lots and extend the knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence.

Online monitoring parking

Results

Created solution for on-line monitoring of Škoda Auto FabLab parking lot in real time.

Description of solution

The era we live in is strongly connected to Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence (AI). As we ourselves in FabLab know that this direction is the right one, we decided to try the work with artificial intelligence right in this project and we have thus combined useful with even more useful. Since such a gigantic automotive company of Škoda Auto with dozens of parking lots with dozens of thousands parking spaces must deal with their occupancy, we decided to create a standardised solution for parking lot monitoring that would be usable for all parking lots in Škoda Auto. Nowadays, on a long-term basis, using camera system, artificial intelligence and interconnected, cheap and individually working edge devices, we are evaluating the occupancy of our internal parking lot in front of Škoda FabLab. This project, specifically, represents the first step to our goal - creation of final standardised solution that could be used also for other parking lots in Škoda Auto; including those critical ones for truck parking. Thanks to this, our team made a huge progress in work with artificial intelligence, and therefore we will be able to start applying the artificial intelligence even to projects of predictive maintenance of car production machinery.

Benefits

  • Functional monitoring of FabLab parking lot occupancy in real time.
  • Use of cheap edge device and open source technology
  • Increase of know-how in the field of artificial intelligence
  • Creation of standardised solution applicable even to other parking lots in Škoda Auto
