Project's goal

Creation of a level sensing system at the tank with heated wax at Paint Shop A and displaying the current level on the HMI panel.

Results

Condition monitoring of the wax level using a level radar sensor with IO-link technology without guided wave with connection to the control system of the heated wax tank.

Solution Description:

In the first phase, it was necessary to analyze the assignment first, because sensing the wax level is not as simple as, for example, sensing the water level. After that, real operational testing and comparison of selected sensors from different manufacturers took place using the FabLab KIT of mobile diagnostics. After verification and evaluation in cooperation with the Paint Shop A maintenance, the final decision for deployment in the production was reached. In this case, synergies were also used within the Central Technical Service, and together with colleagues from the Internal Repairs department, it was managed to install the sensor. The result is the achievement of the target status of monitoring the level of melted wax with the option of setting min./max. amount of wax and its display on the central HMI panel.

Benefits and details

  • Verification of radar technology for similar cases
  • Early warning of liquid wax shortage
  • Early warning of liquid wax overflow
  • Simplifying the work of operating the tank with liquid wax
