Integration of online vacancy monitoring of the V1 building parking lot using an artificial intelligence.

Description of solution

Before arriving at the V1 parking lot, the drivers had to drive through the narrow street and only at the lot they found out whether there is a parking space available or not. If there was no place, the driver had to back out of the parking lot, which created pretty dangerous situation, as pedestrians are using the parking lot as well.

Therefore, our Škoda FabLab team has created and installed a new online monitoring of parking lot vacancies using takes from two cameras located at the V1 parking lot. These visual data are then evaluated by an artificial intelligence and information about parking places available is sent to the visualisation panel. This visualisation panel is located before the entrance to the parking lot, and so the driver knows immediately, whether there are any parking places available.

Thanks to this project we have eliminated dangerous excessive traffic at the parking lot and also saved time of employees parking at Škoda Auto premises.
