Description of solution
Our colleagues from the Central Technical Service – External Repairs carried out an overhaul of the blanking line in Press Shop M15, which involved replacing its hydraulic pumps. And as we were all interested in the difference in power consumption before and after the replacement of the hydraulic pumps, we decided to take the measurement and find out the result. The assumption was that the new hydraulic pumps had lower power consumption. After the measured data had been evaluated, we have found out that the electricity savings are up to 21% when the production program is running and up to 49% in the so-called tool change mode.
When implementing this project, our technician from FabLab was assisted by a student from Škoda Academy, who could also try out the measurement himself. We hope that this experience was beneficial for him and that the experience gained will help him further in his career.
Benefits
- Electricity savings of up to 21% during the production program run
- Electricity savings of up to 49 % in the tool change mode
- Corroboration of the initial assumption of lower power consumption after the machine’s overhaul
