Solution

Until now, Škoda Auto welding shops used robotic welding tongs for the production of almost all metal body parts, the use of which was associated with relatively large losses of process energy and were the cause of other malfunctions (e.g. tongs jamming during movement) that slowed down the production of our cars. That's why we decided to order and test new, more powerful welding tongs for robotic workplaces at Škoda Auto on the Škoda FabLab test robot. The results showed that these new tongs speed up the welding process by 10% and at the same time make the process more stable. The testing of the new tongs also included the measurement of process energy savings, which also yielded positive results.
